Mandated reporterAre you a mandated reporter?
Penal Code 11165.7 currently specifies 35 categories as mandated child abuse reporters. Review this Penal code online: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/.
Why you must report:

Reporters are immune from criminal liability for reporting as required, but failure to report can result in up to 6 months in jail and/or $1,000 fine.
Training time from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
Safe from the Start Training
Learn the effects of violence on young children. The brain develops in a use-dependent way, therefore children exposed to violence may have impacts on their brain development.

Home Safety assessment checklist, Poison Control information, Drowning prevention, Parenting tips, Safe Baby Surrender Law, Child Abuse Prevention and Local Resource Information, Fetal Alcohol and Shaken Baby Prevention.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Assist with child abuse prevention month activities, via resource tables, blue ribbon campaign, presentations.
- Conference planner for annual conference held each April.
- Public Awareness coordinator, develop psa's, billboards, bus posters, brochures and schedule trainings.
- Help with Kases for Kids program, collect new or used suitcases for children entering foster care or relative placement.
